Queen's University COVID-19 Student Resources

Student Run Services

The Alma Mater Society runs 13 services which have been established to meet the wants and needs of Queen’s students. Every service is run top to bottom, from management to staff, completely by Queen’s undergraduates. From printing and copying, to pubs, to coffee, to digital media, the AMS has opportunities available in a wide range of fields. Working at a service is a great way to get experience in management, learn a new skill, or make new friends in a flexible and relaxed environment. Our services are also cheap and convenient for students to use. If you’d like to work at an AMS service, make sure that you’ve paid your AMS Membership Fee on SOLUS. If you’d like to visit, stop on by and say hi! Many of our services are open to both Queen’s students and the public.

    Common Ground

The Common Ground is a student-run coffee shop offering a wide variety of espresso-based drinks, iced drinks, bagels, sandwiches, and baked goods.

Located on the 2nd floor of the Queen’s Center, Common Ground staff invites you to study and hang out.  Our space can be used for studying, hanging out with friends, grabbing lunch, or can even be booked for events! And be sure to drop by The Brew in the Upper JDUC (by Tricolour Outlet) to pick up a coffee, tea, or baked good on your way to class!

    The AMS Pub Services (TAPS)

Since 1977, the Queen’s Pub (QP) has served as a cherished tradition and staple at Queen’s University.

United with the Queen’s Pub under The AMS Pub Services (otherwise known as TAPS), the Underground is the only student operated club in the country. We offer a level of acceptance and warmth that is unparalleled in the Kingston community.
