2020 AMS Election results

January 29th, 2020  

Kingston, ON – The AMS Elections team would like to thank all of those who participated and voted in the 2019 Winter Election season. As of 8:00pm January 29th, 2020, the polls for the AMS Executive Election and the Rector election have concluded. The results are as follows: 

The AMS Elections Team would like to congratulate Team AJA for being elected as the 2020-2021 AMS Executive. The results were a vote of 82.3% (2724) “Yes” and a 28.3% turnout. We wish them the best in their upcoming term. 

The AMS Elections team would like to congratulate Sam Heimstra for being elected to the position of Rector for the 2020-2023 school year. The results were a vote of 93% (3893) “YES” from the AMS and SGPS voters combined. We wish him the best in his upcoming term. 

 The AMS Secretary of Internal Affairs, Lucas Borchenko, has made the following statement: “The Elections Team and I would like to congratulate Sam and Team AJA. They worked hard on their campaigns even though their respective elections were uncontested. I look forward to seeing what they do in the future and am confident that they will be successful in their endeavors as their terms begin.” 

The AMS Executive has also made the following statement: “We congratulate Sam Heimstra and Team AJA on their successful election results tonight. We are excited to begin the transition process with this enthusiastic team.” 

Results for the 2020 Winter Referendum can be found on the AMS Website at myams.org.
